Below are links to the numerous wargame publishers from whom I have purchased one or more games. While this is not an exhaustive list, as I make further purchases from other publishers, I will add them here.
I’ve included some of my thoughts, but none are to be taken as adverse. I highly respect each of these companies and wish them great success.
Avalanche Press: Niche game company, filling in where other companies miss out or just drop the ball. Their sea games are the best.
Blue Panther: They publish or print games from various clients, including White Dog Games. A potpourri of offerings.
Compass Games: Some of the games are hit and miss, as far as aesthetics, but I do tend to purchase about half of their offerings in a year. Perhaps the most social of the companies, with a bi-weekly townhall where the owners (often designers) discuss their current and future games.
Decision Games: They have quite a few good games, but some production and QC issues have plagued them over recent years. It is THE place to go to get the most excellent RAF game.
DVG Games: They have several very good solitaire games.
Flying Pig Games: Their ACW game(s) are top notch. I’ve not tried their WW2 tactical system, which reminds me of ASL.
GMT Games: The de-facto replacement for The Avalon Hill Game Company, producing a large quantity of a games each year, some from the old SPI and Victory Games crew (Mark Herman especially). I buy about 10 games or more a year from them.
Histogame: Makers of my favorite wargame of all time. I wish they’d produce more games, to be honest.
Hollandspiele: Another niche-filling company. Some of their stuff is not for me, but others seem to like them. Worth a look.
Legion Wargames: The make some very good games, albeit very slowly.
Lock ‘N Load Publishing: Notwithstanding their recent fiasco KS games (I did back all three affected) I do like their products. Things happen, comms can always be better, but I have bought quite a few of their games with no regrets.
Multi-man Publishing: Aka The Gamers, they produce high-quality games, in somewhat limited quantities. They have done second print runs on a number of their games, but not the ones I NEED.
NAC Wargames: New-ish on the scene, from Spain, and they have published some very interesting games. I look forward to what else they have coming,
New England Simulations: A maker of a few “monster” (as in massive) games, but sadly their Overlord game is out of print.
Phalanx: They do more than wargames, with good production value.
Revolution Games: Their ACW games are fantastic and they fill the holes that other companies have left in the genre. But they also do more than ACW.
Shakos: A French company. GMT carries some, but I do not believe all of their games.
Vuca Simulations: I have all but one of their games. I highly recommend them.
Worthington Publishing: Some of their games cater to tastes different than my own, but I do own several of their products. Good production quality overall and several games are not to be missed.
Other companies
Below are companies whom I am aware of, but do not as yet own any of their games, although I hope this will change in time.
